6 Ways Building a Positive Workplace Culture Helps Recruitment

United States | 6 Ways Building a Positive Workplace Culture Helps Recruitment

Organizations that thrive usually attract and retain top talent. As I reflect on Insentra’s journey, I realise our company culture has been key to the success of our recruitment efforts.

Early on, our leadership and crew understood the significance of incorporating our culture into all aspects of recruiting. I strongly believe a positive and inclusive company culture plays a pivotal role in attracting top talent. It not only draws highly qualified candidates, but also ensures their long-term commitment to our organization.

Let’s dive into the 6 compelling ways Insentra’s culture fuels our recruitment success.

  1. Building a Positive Insentra Brand: Our culture directly contributes to the development of our Insentra brand. When prospective candidates consider joining our organization, they evaluate our reputation and values. Recent studies suggest that over 40% of active candidates prioritise company culture when looking for new roles (Lobosco, 2022).  Personally, I believe this percentage is even higher. At Insentra, we acknowledge that every candidate values company culture. Therefore, we’ve implemented steps to showcase our culture during the interview process. We incorporate the Train Story, a fundamental part of our company principles, by asking candidates what resonates with them. Additionally, we respond to every candidate and take pride in being part of the Circle Back Initiative. We believe potential candidates are more likely to be drawn to our company when we prioritise employee well-being, provide growth opportunities, and foster a supportive work environment.
  2. Crew Retention: Recruiting individuals who align with Insentra’s culture is critical for long-term employee satisfaction and retention. When our crew members feel a sense of belonging, they become more engaged and committed to their work. We foster this sense of belonging across geographies by checking in daily with our teams. We genuinely care about how they’re doing and offer support on days when they may not be at their best, both personally and professionally. Our leaders are encouraged to be active listeners first and managers second, enabling a supportive environment where everyone feels valued. Our teams feel supported and satisfied in this atmosphere. As a result, turnover rates are lower, and we save valuable resources on recruitment and onboarding.
  3. Diversity and Inclusion: These values are essential for driving innovation and solving problems facing our partners and clients in today’s ever-changing technological world. Insentra’s strong company culture embraces diversity and fosters a sense of belonging for individuals from various backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. As a result, we hope to attract a wider range of candidates and benefit from a diverse workforce. One specific strategy is to involve our managers and interviewers in discussions around diversity, as part of the recruitment process. We talk about industry demographics and how to tackle unconscious bias. We’ve also established open and honest communication through our “no fear of retribution” approach, so employees feel comfortable sharing their experiences and feedback. This enables us to identify any potential biases, address concerns, and create a supportive and inclusive work environment for all employees.
  4. Bringing fresh ideas and creative solutions to the table is crucial in IT consulting. Insentra taps into a broader talent pool, builds cohesive teams, and delivers innovative solutions to our partners on a daily basis, by demonstrating an inclusive culture in our recruitment efforts.
  5. Employee Referrals: A positive company culture encourages our crew members to become brand advocates and refer potential candidates to us. Employees who genuinely love their work and the company are more likely to recommend our organization to their professional networks. Insentra values referrals from our crew as a recruitment strategy, since they already have insights into who would be a great fit for our organization. To acknowledge this, we’ve implemented a referral bonus program for our crew. We want to reward them for sending us referrals for open roles because it further strengthens our positive culture. As a result, Insentra consistently receives recommendations for exceptional recruits who perfectly align with our culture.
  6. Innovation and Collaboration: In IT consulting, innovation and collaboration are vital for staying competitive. Our strong company culture promotes open communication, teamwork, and knowledge sharing. Collaborative team environments fuel innovation, and when we recruit candidates, we highlight our commitment to career advancement and training. We talk about the technology we work with and the types of projects they will contribute to. Our interviews are a two-way street, and we always encourage candidates to ask questions. For example: we often tailor roles to fit our crew’s ambitions based on the questions they raised during their recruitment interview. We want to create an environment where they grow and succeed in their own way. We’re consistently a top choice for candidates in their career search, because we show that we prioritise a collaborative and innovative environment.

I truly understand the profound impact that company culture has on our recruitment efforts, given how quickly our technological landscape changes every day.

Insentra’s positive and inclusive culture goes beyond enhancing our employer brand – it directly contributes to the satisfaction of our teams in their professional careers and lives outside of work.

Since prioritising diversity, inclusion, collaboration, and innovation, we’ve successfully created a work environment that attracts top talent and fosters cohesive teams. We all recognize the utmost importance of our company culture in our recruitment efforts, and we actively strive to embody our company values every single day.

I help shape these commitments as I continue to learn and grow in my role as global technical recruiter. Our dedication enables Insentra to stay competitive and thrive in the ever-evolving technology landscape, and my role is integral to that success.
