End User Computing is here! Q&A with our practice manager

United Kingdom | End User Computing is here! Q&A with our practice manager

The growth of mobile in business is clear, however the management and security of mobile users and devices such as smartphones, tablets and laptops is still confusing for some IT professionals.

One of the clear strategies that companies should begin to follow is looking holistically at end user computing needs. This includes not just which devices, desktops, laptops, or handhelds that users want, but more importantly, how and where users access data and how that data will be secured and managed.

Our End User Computing Practice Manager, Nathan Anthony believes that organisations need to rethink their mobile strategy to effectively empower their end user’s productivity and collaboration.

Nathan shares his thoughts on the future of End User Computing…

1.   How old is Insentra’s End User Computing practice?

We’ve been working with our partners in the End User Computing space for just over 2 years now.

2.   Quick stats about the practice…number of projects, through how many partners, across which solutions?

In 2 years we’ve delivered over 100 projects through 20 partners across the entire Citrix portfolio.

3.   What technology set do you currently deploy in this practice?

To date the entire Citrix portfolio. We specialise in XenApp, XenDesktop, XenMobile, Netscaler and CloudBridge technologies which form part of our core solution offering. Recently we introduced CloudHouse’s Applications Anywhere and Systems Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) to our practice services offering. Our partners wanted to provide their clients with additional solutions, we listened.

4. What do you enjoy the most about leading the EUC practice?

It would have to be Insentra’s great relationships with its partners. Our partner centric business model means we get to work with all types of partners across all types of accounts, not to mention, the opportunity to work with some of the best technical people across the industry.

 5.  What experience do you and your team bring to partners when helping their clients with their Citrix needs?

Our consultants have a combined 50 years of Citrix and End User Computing experience. Each of them has their own specialised skills and, when combined, we create a strong team. Working with our partners, we get the opportunity to engage in multiple accounts, large and small. This breadth of experience can only be earned.

6. What has been the most rewarding Citrix engagement your team have delivered and why?

Most recently I would say a Proof of Concept for a large Australian Bank. We delivered great quality outcomes in a very short period of time, received exceptional feedback from both the client and the partner and have now been engaged for a full production deployment.

7. How would you describe End User Computing in two sentences?

It is a user sitting at a desk/airport lounge and their experiences when working on their chosen device. All of the things that happen in the background to deliver that exceptional user experience without the user  knowing or caring how it has happened.

8. What are the end-user computing trends you are seeing in the market?

It’s still going mobile in a big way. I would expect to see another surge in uptake in the next 12 months in Mobility and Security, levering products such as Citrix  XenMobile and Netscaler. We are already experiencing a significant growth in this space.

9. What is the future of end-user computing?

Simpler, faster, connected, un-connected, no-compromise user experiences on whatever device a user chooses to use whenever they chose to use it.
