One battle we know Zoom is winning is marketing. Did you see this image recently? Almost 200,000 likes and over 32,000 RT’s for this tweet alone! Not to mention the on average 87.4m TV viewers who regularly tune in to Formula 1 worldwide.

However, when it comes to video calling platforms, Microsoft Teams saw a considerable increase in users during the pandemic, rising from 20 million users in November 2019 to 75 million by April 2020. According to reports published by Aternity, Microsoft Teams usage growth surpassed Zoom, with over 500,000 organisations using it as their default IM platform.
For organisations defaulting to Teams, many found ways to save users time through both the ‘out of the box’ integration with the M365 ecosystem and the ability to access third-party and custom-built applications. Forrester reports the average time saved by not frequently switching between applications is between 15 and 25 minutes per user per day.
If you are wondering, “so what?” this saving equates to USD 8.8M to USD 21.7M over three years for organisations in the study. Now, if those numbers make your eyebrows raise and you want to know how they did this, it is simple – apps integrated with Teams.
You will be surprised with how many apps are readily available for Teams which you can access to help your organisation save time. Just by leveraging PowerApps and its templates, you can save time by not having to follow the bouncing ball on repetitive tasks and instead leverage triggers to set off a workflow which will manage and complete the task for you. Awesome! You can even build applications for processes unique to your organisation to drive greater efficiencies.
Are you one of the 500,000 organisations which have deployed Teams but not yet identified how to leverage the platform to drive efficiencies within your business?
