The study surveyed 51,937 employees from 135 businesses based on a number of key metrics such as credibility, fairness and respect.

The list was once again dominated by IT and technology firms, accounting for 21 of the 50 companies named. Cloud software vendor Salesforce taking out the top spot for companies with 100 staff or more. According to Great Places to Work, Salesforce builds its company culture around the Hawaiian spirit Ohana, representing families and responsibility for one another.

In Australia, Salesforce works with schools to encourage STEM schools and address the falling number of women in tech roles, while employing 684 staff.

Another cloud company, Rackspace, took the No. 1 spot for companies with fewer than 100 staff. The data centre and cloud vendor has an internal diversity committee that focuses on equality for its employees’ work and social lives, including ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender.

“At Rackspace, we’re always considering how we can better improve the lives of our employees both in and outside the workplace.  This sees us constantly explore their experience from a productivity, creativity, happiness and client service point of view,” Rackspace ANZ general manager Angus Dorney said.

“While we embrace many talent development avenues as part of this approach, we also extend our services to community and workplace diversity initiatives, and curiosity and culture empowerment projects.”

A number of IT service providers made the list, including Insentra, Mexia and Altis Consulting. Tech vendors were well represented, with the inclusion of Atlassian, Adobe, NetApp and Autodesk.
