Dave Young: Hi, this is Dave Young with FSLogix. In 2015, FSLogix won best of Citrix Synergy, with the release of our profile container solution. This allows administrators to solve the problem of profile management and include large files like OSTs without using folder redirection. This allows applications like Office 365 to run as if they were locally installed on a high end workstation with local disk access.
This year, we’ve released a subset of that solution that fixes Office 365 issues alongside your existing UEM or profile management solution without having to move your full profile to FSLogix. In the video I’m about to show, we’re showing how FSLogix Office 365 containers solves Outlook cached exchange mode and roamed index for non-persistent VDI and RDSH environments. The user will login and the FSLogix file system and registry driver mounts the Office 365 container.
As we open Outlook 2016, the user’s email is going to be instantaneously retrieved from the container. Outlook is running in cached exchange mode enabled. With cached exchange mode enabled, giving me a fully populated inbox on application launch. My indexing is also enabled, as you’ll see when I conduct this search. We have 7500 emails in this inbox, and I’m going to do a search for the word ‘demo’. Instantaneously, our results are returned back to us.
I’ll change that search to the word ‘grayslake’ and see what kind of results I get back from that. If we take a look at the search index, you’ll notice that there are zero items left to be indexed. Now, let’s take a look at the pieces that come together to make this happen. If we go to Explorer to look at the profile container, you’ll see that it is a link to an actual VHD sitting on a fileshare.
That VHD is 4.8 gigs in size. If we look at the size of the OST, it’s about 4.6 gigs in size. This gives us the ability to instantaneously launch the user’s connexion to that environment. as if it was on local disk. Thank you for joining us today.
