This feature offers a streamlined approach to deploying these devices with minimal IT intervention.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a Microsoft 365 consultant, I&#8217;ve seen firsthand how Intune and Autopilot can simplify shared PC deployments. In this blog, I\u2019ll walk you through the benefits and best practices for using these tools effectively.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why Use Intune and Autopilot for Shared PCs?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Deploying shared devices manually can be time-consuming and prone to configuration inconsistencies. Intune and Autopilot solve these challenges by enabling:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Zero-Touch Deployment: <\/strong>Devices enrol automatically without requiring user credentials&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Consistent Configuration:<\/strong>&nbsp;Policies, applications and settings are applied uniformly&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Secure and Compliant Setup:<\/strong> Enforced policies ensure security and compliance&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Automated Updates:<\/strong> Devices receive policies and updates without IT manually intervening&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Prerequisites for Autopilot Self-Deploying Mode<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>From my experience, here are the key prerequisites to consider before getting started:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Devices must support TPM 2.0, as it is required for device attestation and secure enrolment in Autopilot Self-Deploying mode, allowing automatic deployment without user credentials&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The device is running Windows 10\/11 Enterprise, Pro, or Education&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The device is registered in Windows Autopilot&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your Intune tenant is set up with appropriate deployment profiles&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Steps to Deploy Shared PCs Using Autopilot<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Configure an Autopilot Deployment Profile<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigate to Intune Admin Center &gt; Devices &gt; Windows &gt; Autopilot deployment profiles&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Create a Self-Deploying Mode profile and configure:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Deployment Mode<\/strong>: Self-Deploying&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Join to Microsoft Entra ID as: <\/strong>Microsoft Entra joined&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Device Name Template<\/strong>: (e.g. SHAREDPC-%SERIAL%)&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Ensure user is set as:<\/strong> standard user and not administrator&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Register Devices in Windows Autopilot<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Obtain the hardware hash of the device and upload it to Intune&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Assign the device to the Autopilot Self-Deploying profile either manually, using a dynamic security group or Group Tag&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Configure Shared PC Mode in Intune<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you are deploying <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insentragroup.com\/us\/insights\/resources\/ebooks-and-guides\/rethink-your-endpoint-strategy-essential-insights-for-navigating-windows-10-end-of-life-whitepaper\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.insentragroup.com\/us\/insights\/resources\/ebooks-and-guides\/rethink-your-endpoint-strategy-essential-insights-for-navigating-windows-10-end-of-life-whitepaper\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Windows 11<\/a>, there is a configuration profile within OMA-URI settings named <em>Enable Shared PC mode with OneDrive sync<\/em>, which enables shared PC mode as well as OneDrive sync\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you are deploying Windows 10, the previous setting won\u2019t work as this functionality isn\u2019t supported within Windows 10. Instead, you will have to create a policy and enable the setting <em>Disable One Drive File Sync<\/em>, with the option of <em>Sync enabled<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Whatever OS you use, you will want to configure the <em>Shared PC<\/em> from the settings catalogue, managing items such as Deletion policy, disk level caching etc.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"4\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Configure OneDrive<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I\u2019d recommend creating a configuration profile for OneDrive from the settings catalogue and enabling items such as <em>Silently move Windows known folders to OneDrive<\/em> (this can sync desktop, documents and pictures)&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You can also lock the sign-in to your tenant by entering your tenant ID&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lastly, you\u2019ll want to enable<em> Use OneDrive Files On-Demand<\/em> to make logons quick for end users&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"5\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Deploy Applications and Security Policies<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Assign essential applications via Intune e.g. Office Apps, Microsoft Teams etc.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"6\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Test and Validate Deployment<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Perform a test deployment to ensure the device provisions correctly&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Validate security settings, app installations, and compliance policies.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Best Practices for Shared PC Deployments<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use Windows Shared PC Mode to enforce optimal performance and security&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Restrict Local Admin Access to prevent unauthorised changes&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use OneDrive for a seamless user experience across several devices&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In my work with clients, leveraging Microsoft Intune and Autopilot\u2019s Self-Deploying mode has been a game-changer.
