The introduction of the new Outlook<\/a> has triggered a variety of responses, ranging from excitement to apprehension. However, many organizations are not yet prepared to fully embrace it.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this blog, I\u2019m going to help you with the transition to achieve a controlled rollout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are some practical steps you can take to manage the new Outlook:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HIDING THE NEW OUTLOOK<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If your organization is not ready to utilize the new Outlook yet,\u00a0 quick fix to prevent any issues is to hide the option that enables it by using Microsoft Intune<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Log into Intune with the appropriate permissions<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Go to Devices > Windows > Configuration Profiles<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Click Create > New Policy<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Platform: Windows 10 or later<\/strong>. Profile type: Settings catalogue<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Choose an appropriate name for the policy e.g. Win10-BlockNewOutlook<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Click Add Settings<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. Search \u201cNew Outlook<\/strong>\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    1. Enable the option to Hide the \u201cTry the new Outlook\u201d toggle in Outlook (User)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      1. Click Next<\/strong>, set your scope tags if relevant, and assign the policy to a group<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        REMOVING BUILT-IN OUTLOOK FROM WINDOWS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        Microsoft started including the new Outlook built-in to Windows 11 version 23H2 and later. If you\u2019d rather not run it yet, you can easily remove it by running the following command during Autopilot deployment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \u201cRemove-AppxProvisionedPackage -AllUsers -Online -PackageName (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.OutlookForWindows).PackageFullName<\/em>\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

        This will help you remove the new Outlook app and revert to the previous Mail and Calendar apps. Keep in mind that the new Outlook for Windows offers advanced features and integration, so consider leaving it installed for selected users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        HOW TO DEPLOY NEW OUTLOOK USING INTUNE <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        Once you have evaluated and tested the new Outlook, you can configure automatic deployment for your organization using the Microsoft Store within Intune.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Log in to Intune<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. Go to Apps > Windows<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
        3. Click Add > <\/strong>App type: Microsoft Store app (new)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
        4. Search for Outlook<\/strong> and select Outlook for Window<\/strong>\n

            1. You can see in the description for this app, it is the new Outlook for Windows.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            2. Configure your deployment preferences and create the app deployment package.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
