Firstly, a confession. Well actually, three confessions if I may:<\/p>\n
My bright little 4yo boy Toby has\u00a0cerebral palsy<\/a>. He\u2019s perfectly happy \u2013 active, intelligent, as cheeky as any other child \u2013 however faces daily physical challenges around walking, talking, feeding and dressing himself etc. Ever since he was diagnosed (at 9mths), we have been supported by the amazing people of the\u00a0Cerebral Palsy Alliance<\/a>.\u00a0They provide guidance, facilities, funding, education and assistance to kids (and adults) like Toby all across Australia. They line-up physios, help with parent-training, provide an outlet and perhaps most importantly, help arrange funding for things like walkers \u2013 check-out Toby in his.<\/p>\n To support these initiatives, I\u2019ve signed-up to do\u00a0Steptember<\/a>\u00a0and my journey will be to smash-out out 17,857 steps per day, for 28 days from Sept 4th to Oct 1st. That\u2019ll be a total of roughly 400km or the equivalent of walking from Sydney to Kempsey on the NSW mid-north coast. Joining me in Team Toby 2017 will be my sister, niece and cousin and if we hit our goals, we\u2019d have racked-up a combined 2 million steps AND hopefully raised over $10,000 for the CPA.<\/p>\n My emotional journey will be much harder and in this I\u2019m grateful to work for a company like #insentra, that provides such a positive environment and truly cares deeply about kids in need. Supporting Toby\u2019s daily requirements can take its toll, with all sorts of appointments with various therapists and from day 1, Insentra has had my back.
