{"id":426,"date":"2018-08-16T01:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-08-16T01:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/inswwdev.azurewebsites.net\/au\/insights\/uncategorized\/joining-the-insentra-train-the-best-job-ive-ever-had\/"},"modified":"2021-09-23T08:15:46","modified_gmt":"2021-09-23T08:15:46","slug":"joining-the-insentra-train-the-best-job-ive-ever-had","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.insentragroup.com\/nz\/insights\/not-geek-speak\/culture\/joining-the-insentra-train-the-best-job-ive-ever-had\/","title":{"rendered":"Joining the Insentra Train \u2013 the best job I\u2019ve ever had"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">3 years ago, I heard about the story of the Insentra train.&nbsp; A company where everyone no matter what level in the business contributes and is responsible in helping the train reach the destination.&nbsp; It sounded too good to be true!&nbsp; A great working environment, mature culture, great work-life balance, and no political drama.&nbsp; Insentra sounded like the place to be.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I didn\u2019t know much about managed services at the time.&nbsp; Internal support was all I knew for the last 10 years.&nbsp; After researching more, I came to an understanding that this was an incredible career opportunity.&nbsp; Working for managed services could open doors that wouldn\u2019t normally be possible working as internal support.&nbsp; Access to different environments, with different technologies and philosophies, would increase my knowledge professionally at a much greater pace.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I knew what this meant for me, but in life, other factors come into play.&nbsp; I had just purchased a new home and my wife was expecting our second child.&nbsp; I already had a steady job at an established company where I was already making strides and things were going well on all fronts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Why fix what isn\u2019t broken?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For all these reasons I convinced myself to make the safe play and therefore I declined the opportunity and stayed with my employer.&nbsp; It felt like the sensible move and I made peace with my decision and moved on thinking I had closed off that chapter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Working within a single environment, you can fall into a trap of complacency, into the mentality of doing things the same because \u201cThat\u2019s just the way it\u2019s always been\u201d or \u201cIt\u2019s not worth changing now\u201d.&nbsp; The drive to challenge and innovate can sometimes be hard but I found myself always asking the same questions.&nbsp; Why are we doing it this way?
