Are you ready to deploy Shared Device mode for Android? Well let\u2019s get you started with some configuration policies. But before we do that, if you want to learn more about Shared Device mode and what the \u201cMicrosoft Managed Home Screen\u201d is, then be sure to check out my earlier post where I give an overview and some neat features it provides. Okay, let\u2019s get started. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will be looking at 2 different configuration scenarios today. A single-app kiosk mode and the multi-app kiosk mode. Before these policies can be properly utilised by devices, let\u2019s do a quick step of adding the Managed Home Screen app to your managed Android Applications!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ADDING THE MICROSOFT MANAGED HOME SCREEN APPLICATION<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  1. Head over to the Microsoft Intune portal at intune.microsoft.com <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Click on Apps <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
    \"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    1. Click on Android <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
      \"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
        \n
      1. Click on the \u2018+ Add\u2019 at the top menu <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
        \"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
          \n
        1. Select \u201cManaged Google Play app\u201d from the App type dropdown and click on the select button at the bottom<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            \n
          1. Search for Microsoft Managed Home Screen <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
            \"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
              \n
            1. Click on \u201cSelect\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            2. Click on the \u201cSync\u201d button at the top left<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            3. Ensure to assign the app to the shared devices by opening the app from the selection as normal<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

              That\u2019s it! We\u2019re now ready to configure the policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              SINGLE-APP KIOSK STYLE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

               The following steps outline the configuration for a single-app kiosk style shared device. In this mode, only 1 app will be available and open on the device. Users sign-in to this app and sign-out once their work is complete. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

              1. Head over to the Microsoft Intune portal at intune.microsoft.com<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              2. Click on Devices<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                  1. Click on Configuration Profiles <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                    1. Click on the \u2018+ Create\u2019 at the top menu and select \u2018New Policy\u2019 <\/li>\n\n\n\n
                    2. Select Android Enterprise as the Platform and select \u2018Device Restrictions\u2019 as the profile type under the \u2018Fully Managed, Dedicated, Corporate-Owned Work Profile\u2019 group and then click the \u2018Create\u2019 button at the bottom <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                      1. Give the policy a name and description and click Next<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                      2. For now, we are only going to configure the \u2018Device Experience\u2019 group, so let\u2019s expand that<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                        1. Select the enrolment profile type as \u201cDedicated device\u201d to enable the Shared Device profile<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                        2. This should now give you the \u2018Kiosk mode\u2019 selection. Select \u2018Single App\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                          1. Select the app you want to use as your single app <\/li>\n\n\n\n
                          2. Click Next<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                          3. Assign your devices to the policy and you\u2019re ready to start and Click next and finally \u2018Create\u2019 <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                            MULTI-APP KIOSK STYLE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                            The following steps outline the configuration for a multi-app kiosk style shared device. In this mode, multiple apps will be available on the device. Users sign-in to the device and can select which apps they want to use during their session and sign-out of the device once their work is complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
