This figure came out of a<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.citrix.com\/articles-and-insights\/workforce-mobility\/aug-2015\/citrix-security-survey-guide.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">recent study<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>by Wakefield research commissioned by Citrix, along with other alarming data that shows people have become complacent about<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/citrix\/2015\/12\/30\/protecting-what-matters-making-secure-business-mobility-a-reality\/?utm_content=buffer2be81&amp;utm_medium=social%2Bmedia&amp;utm_source=linkedin.com&amp;utm_campaign=corp%2Bsocial%2Bmarketing%2B(organic%2Bposts%2Band%2Bfeeds)#2715e4857a0b2b7063f551bf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">internet security<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">2015 has seen<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/staging.malwareprotection.net\/top-10-hacking-incidents-for-2015\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">major hacking incidents<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>in companies globally with the top ten being Anthem and Uber in February; IRS, CareFirst and MSpy in May; hacking Team, Office of Personal Manage Agency (USA) and Ashley Madison in July; and finally ICANN and Carphone Warehouse in August.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As technology moves towards the next iteration, the likes of firewalls, antivirus and intrusion prevention is slowly becoming obsolete against hackers who generate their own advanced code that has little means of being detected with technology better than the average person.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, users stand little chance when<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">70% haven\u2019t installed security software on their smartphone or tablet<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">62% use a basic or company issued Wi-Fi password<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">51% do not change their passwords frequently enough<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Whether it\u2019s about lack of understanding of the products available to them on the market or a lack of understanding in regards to how they can protect themselves, it\u2019s clear that users don\u2019t find securing their personal information a priority. The 93% of Americans that don\u2019t keep their personal files on the cloud is testament to this, while 61% of surveyed users don\u2019t have data breach programs in place.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While 92% of employed Americans surveyed feel that security and data protection is a priority for a\u00a0company, 34% of those feel that their companies devote more resources to social media than to data protection!
