AI-assisted vulnerability discovery is accelerating the identification of software weaknesses, a positive development for long-term security but one that is creating immediate challenges for organisations responsible for maintaining enterprise infrastructure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The scale is becoming hard to ignore. Microsoft’s October 2026 security release reportedly addressed more than 1,400 vulnerabilities, while recent critical Citrix NetScaler disclosures have reinforced how quickly known weaknesses can become active threats.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The issue isn’t the volume of CVEs alone. It’s the increasing frequency of critical vulnerabilities requiring urgent remediation, often before the next scheduled maintenance window.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Microsoft has already acknowledged this shift, warning that larger security releases and more frequent out-of-band updates are likely to continue. McKinsey has similarly highlighted the growing disconnect between the speed of emerging cyber threats and the ability of organisations to coordinate a response. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For technology leaders, the challenge is evolving beyond maintaining patch compliance. It is ensuring the business has the authority, capacity and willingness to accommodate security changes at the speed now being demanded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
AI is helping the industry discover vulnerabilities faster than ever. The next challenge is ensuring that our operating models, vendor remediation capabilities and business expectations evolve alongside it.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The question is no longer simply how quickly vulnerabilities can be remediated, but whether business expectations and operational practices are evolving at the same pace as the threats they are intended to address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
